Galaxy Watch FE: Features and Specifications

The Galaxy Watch FE appears to be a revamped version of the Galaxy Watch 4. This timepiece is available in a single size, 40mm, sporting a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 396 x 396 pixels. The watch features an aluminum casing and comes in four colors: Black, Gold, Silver, and Pink.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Watch FE is powered by the Exynos W920, the same chip found in the Galaxy Watch 4. It maintains identical storage (1.5 GB RAM and 16 GB) and battery specifications (247 mAh with WPC but no Qi wireless charging). The dimensions remain consistent at 39.4 x 40.4 x 9.8 mm. Notably, the introduction of Sapphire Crystal glass provides added screen durability, a feature absent in the Galaxy Watch 4. It continues to offer IP68-rated water and dust resistance.

For connectivity, the watch supports LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and NFC. It runs Wear OS-based One UI 5 Watch from the outset, and will be available in both LTE and Bluetooth-only models. The Galaxy Watch FE incorporates Samsung’s BioActive Sensor for tracking Optical Heart Rate, Electrical Heart, and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. Additional sensors include an accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic, and light sensors

Availability and Pricing

The Bluetooth-only variant of the Galaxy Watch FE will be available from June 24 for $19 (approximately INR 16,630). The LTE version priced at $249.99 (approximately INR 20,890), is expected to be released later this year, possibly in October.

Samsung is clearly targeting budget-conscious consumers with this release, and it will be interesting to see if the Galaxy Watch FE invigorates the budget Wear OS market, which currently has limited options. Anticipation is high for additional smartwatch releases in the coming months, including the awaited Galaxy Watch 7 series and the Pixel Watch 3 and 3 XL.
